Supervising Video Productions and Script-Writing
Video production is an exciting challenge and an essential skill for a communicator. I learned the basics of filmmaking while supervising a rather involved video production for the Alliance to Advance Patient-Centered Cancer Care. Together with a professional film crew, we developed six short videos about the Alliance interventions. Then, we edited the footage to create a more extended introduction to the Alliance as a whole, featured below. I traveled to three sites in the United States to supervise filming and interview video participants. This experience ended up being more hands-on than initially planned, but it helped me understand all the aspects of video production and editing.
After this demanding project, I supervised a professional animator and filmmaker who developed a short video introducing the Center for Disability Health and Wellness. While I primarily relied on her talents, I was nonetheless able to write a script, review storyboards, and participate in recording the voice-over. Overall, it was a very enriching experience.

It Takes a Village to Deliver High-Quality Cancer Care
This video was developed to showcase the Alliance initiative. I crafted the script, interviewed half the participants on-site, and supervised the filming and editing process, including requesting specific B-Roll shots during filming.

This video was developed by talented videographer Shannon Kohlitz. I wrote the script and supervised the production process.
Web Coding: Where It All Began

Even though this website is now developed in WordPress, I originally coded it “from scratch” using HTML5 and CSS3. I am including this section because learning how to code was the first step in becoming the communicator I am today. By developing this and other sites, I was exposed to and then learned all the software I now rely on daily.
The very first iteration of this site was hosted at the Washtenaw Community College, where I received my Internet Professional Certificate. Over time, I added more examples of my work in Marketing and Communications, starting with writing and then expanding into design and other media.
I am very proud of how far I’ve come since those early days of learning the building blocks of the web, but I also don’t want to leave all that knowledge behind. You can review some early examples of my work with coding here.
